"If members of the public were self-confident about their preferences in art, the strength of the power structure would diminish." No, it would become so weak as to be nearly impotent. Trouble is, apart from the exceptions that prove the rule, the public has always been too dependent on "experts."

The question is how to bring a little subsection of the public with courage and taste to Dissident Muse Journal.

I'm afraid marketing is not one of my talents, and I expect no more than a small subsection of the public has the courage of its convictions when it comes to art (and many other things). Fashion is both seductive and intimidating, not to say coercive, and it may require some sort of mutation to be resistant to it.

And no one seems as dependent on art "experts" as "major" collectors rich enough to go their own way and not give a damn what anybody thinks of it--but too insecure to dare. Of course, if you're not really into art as such but as a means to other ends, well...you get the idea.

"However much you hate socialism, you do not hate it enough." Possibly, but those who've lived under it and know it first-hand are FAR closer to hating it as it deserves than idiots like Mamdani's NYC fans (assuming they're not worse than idiots, which some surely are).

Down with the paternalist vampire oligarchy!

Up w/ fists fulla crayons!

I hope the "art daddies" use their retirement to learn how to paint. 🎨
