I didn't question the outrageousness of your post until you mentioned January 6th, then I realized in was 4/1. I was almost ready to recheck the news not having seen any mention of the story. This is how far we have come, or gone!
Borderline satire. I too took it as a real incident, which made me mad as hell. Then I knew at the end I'd been had. I sort of grieve that it's become difficult to recognize humor.
You totally had me. Then I noticed tha date and scrolled to the end. (But hadn't noticed the tiny footnote number). But scarily not so funny to me, as I have a dear friend who is a docent, but visiting Jerusalem just now. And others,, like James... I would never want to geive this idea to anyone. But wickedly deserved. I took myself off Hyperallergic's mailing list after their reaction to OCt. 7. Can't say that I've missed it. And my blood pressure is improved.
It may not matter to you, but however in poor taste the Hyperallergic post might have been that you were reacting to, this was a legitimately scary headline to get in my inbox as a Jewish Manhattanite. I get that you were trying to poke fun at that publication but this was a really jerky thing to do. It’s too serious and too real a threat for a joke and, as a reader nearby that museum, too serious and real for April Fools to register immediately. This was a serious miss; you’ve lost me as a subscriber and reader.
I assume that building is Gilded Age nouveau chateau architecture, and I presume the connection is to something the Rothschilds may have lived in, but it still seems a little mannered or precious.
If only wars could be waged as theatre--thoughtful, revealing, embracing both passion and the relative restraint of performance, we would all be better off.
You almost had me!
“God help us if he actually knew how to make anything,” said a spokesperson for the museum."
Unfortunately well deserved spoof. Nice work!
So funny ! Thank you for bringing a smile
