The problem with this show, of course, is that it's only concerned with art issues, not political issues, social issues or fashion issues. In other words, it's too pure and too focused, meant for people interested in art as such--people with an eye as opposed to an agenda. Thus, too niche.
The "problem" is not mine, but it explains why this sort of show rarely if ever plays trendier (or wannabe trendy) venues. I am planning to go see it, though I wouldn't have heard about it unless you'd mentioned it here, because I've been disconnected from the "scene" for quite some time (certainly the Miami scene).
Burchfield sounds interesting.
Jacques Barzun, The Use and Abuse of Art
Josef Pieper, Only the Lover Sings: Art and Contemplation
Any opinions on The Use and Abuse of Art versus The Culture We Deserve?
Haven't read the latter, unfortunately, apologies!
No worries. Might be open to a Barzunfest as well.
You have my vote for "Death of the Artist."
Looks like an engaging show at NSU.
It's extraordinary.
It should be in Miami., not Fort Lauderdale, but so what else is new.
As for books, Franklin, you could try some Greenberg, assuming you're prepared to defy the Furies.

Put what should be out of your mind and go enjoy what is.
