There are even more out there ready and willing to have it decided for them, same as with any kind of fashion in any field. At least in art, the matter is or should be very simple: there's the work or object and the person seeing it, and the matter should be strictly or certainly primarily between the two of them. All external views or opinions are at best secondary and may be ignored. Period.

And by the way, as someone seriously interested in Japanese prints and ceramics, I am somewhat disappointed with Saito. It would appear she's been contaminated by her New England milieu.

The answer to Peter Joslin's question as to who decides strikes me as obvious: I do, for me, always and everywhere. Other people's views may be considered, but it is up to me to agree or disagree, and my decision is final and based on my criteria. That means other people's aesthetics are their business and need not be mine unless I find them convincing and true to my understanding and taste.
