While I’ve printed mokuhanga before, I’m pleased to have finally produced a proper edition under the able direction of Annie Bissett at Zea Mays Printmaking. Also thanks to Annie I have footage for a forthcoming “making of” video.
This is a four-block print, yellow ochre, cerulean + burnt umber, green, and a genuine garnet key block. After considerable struggle I finally figured out how to get the moisture and pigment levels so that the wood grain would print. The paper is Masa.
Edition numbers 2 through 8 are available, as are seven artist proofs at a lower price. I’m offering a 20% discount to paid subscribers of Dissident Muse Journal. Please contact me for details.
Content at DMJ is free but paid subscriptions keep it coming. Please consider one for yourself and thank you for reading.
Preorders are available for Aphorisms for Artists: 100 Ways Toward Better Art by Walter Darby Bannard. More information is available at the site for the book.
