One of many cool things that happened at the Manang Artist Residency was the meeting and subsequent collaboration of Emma Zhang and
. They solicited fellow artists for images to project on various outdoor surfaces under the inky night skies of Ngawal. One particular three-meter-high boulder in a buckwheat field was especially suitable, and Sweeping the Doorway ended up there. This hinted at something I’ve suspected for a while, that I could stand to paint these more recent works larger than my usual 48-inch cap, self-imposed because building, storing, and transporting big paintings is such a nuisance. But my muse is elbowing me in that direction.

Love the idea of projecting small images onto any size... You've got some nice big boulders in them hills!
