The grime is good, Franklin. I suppose it's easier to do than putrefaction, which would be more appropriate but perhaps a bit heavy-handed, for practical purposes.
Try taping a sheet of toothy paper on top of your tablet. That is, unless you're referring to an iPad type of situation where the move would be some toothy trace paper or architects layout paper. It might give a little more bite.
Interesting process with the solid colors and then removing bits of it to acheive this look. I need to try that some time!
That would help, but the bigger problem is the indirection. My drawings come out way better when I'm looking at the tool's interaction with the support. The upgrade may be a display tablet, but I'd want to try one first.
