The automated calendar for the Asynchronous Studio Book Club is back online. We will be reading Old Masters: A Comedy by Thomas Bernhard in three parts as our summer fiction read, with the first discussion one week from today.
Most readers won’t care, but for not having hacked Javascript in a while, I’m pretty pleased with the code. The only outstanding functionality I want to build would let me insert the occasional break in the calendar.
Following Old Masters will be In the Kitchen of Art: Selected Essays and Criticism, 2003-20 by Marco Grassi, which seems like an apt pairing.
Content at DMJ is free but paid subscriptions keep it coming. Please consider one for yourself and thank you for reading.
Our current title in the Asynchronous Studio Book Club is Old Masters: A Comedy by Thomas Bernhard. For more information, see the ASBC homepage.
Dissident Muse’s first publication, Backseat Driver by James Croak, is available now at Amazon.
Aphorisms for Artists: 100 Ways Toward Better Art by Walter Darby Bannard is out now at Allworth Press. More information is available at the site for the book. If you own it already, thank you; please consider reviewing the book at Amazon, B&N, or Goodreads.
Love everything you're selecting. I didn't get a chance to participate in your reading of JF's book, but that's a great one. I'm doing a course with him and Phil in the Weirdosphere right now. Thank you for everything you post here, it's a pleasure.
